Imperial Palaces of St.Petersburg 5n/6d


Day 1. Meeting and assistance at airport, transfer to hotel, accommodation.

Day 2. Breakfast at hotel. Sightseeing tour of the city: Vassilievsky island, Peter and Paul fortress,Admiralty, Peter the Great statue, St. Isaac Cathedral (inside), Nevsky Avenue, Smolny Nunnery. Lunch at restaurant. Visit to Peter and Paul Fortress, grounds and 18th century Cathedral. Summer Garden with the visit to Peter the Great Palace.

oranienbaum fotoDay 3. After breakfast full day trip to Petrodvorets and Oranienbaum (Lomonosov). Parks of Petrodvorets with fountains in summer, tour of Grand Palace of the 18th century. Lunch at Petrodvorets.

Oranienbaum: Chinese Palace is one of the main sights of the beautiful Oranienbaum Park, located on the Gulf of Finland, was founded by Peter the Great's closest associate Alexander Menshikov in 1707. The Chinese Palace was built in a Rococo style by Rinaldi, and its interior with its suite of beautiful ceremonial rooms has remained intact since 1769. Rinaldi also built a two-story pavilion where Catherine the Great held her royal banquets. On the side of its pavilion is a 1,745 foot hill along which small carriages often slide down. Hence this pavilion is named ''Sledding Hill''.

Day 4. Breakfast at hotel. Morning tour of Hermitage, Winter Palace, picture galleries of the Small Hermitage, New Hermitage. Lunch in restaurant.

Menshikov Palace: the oldest Palace of St.Petersburg dating from 1710 to 1714, designed bymenshikov palace foto architects Giovanni Fontana and Gottfried Schadel, was the first building to be erected in St.Petersburg. In 1707 Peter the Great gave all of Vasilyevsky Island to his friend and associate Prince Alexander Menshikov. He built his residence and first Palace in St.Petersburg, most luxurious and splendid building in the city. Menshikov entertained his numerous guests and European dignitaries there. His parties were called «Assemblies». The guests would arrive in special boats, and often the parties would last from noon till midnight. The impressive low-vaulted vestibule is adorned with columns of the Tuscan order. The grand oak staircase leads upward to many other interesting rooms, including the chambers of Varvara Menshikov wife's sister and Menshikov's favorite room, the Walnut Study finished in ebony and stained wood. The Palace is used as a public museum now.

vladimir palace fotoEvening at the Grand Duke Vladimir Palace, tour of the Palace, concert of classical music, champagne and fruit during the break. Grand Duke Vladimir Palace was designed by the Russian architect Ryazanov in 1864. The Palace belonged to Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich who was one of the sons of Czar Alexander II and who for some time was the President of the Academy of Fine Arts. The facade along the Palace embankment resembling Florentine palaces of the 15th century features a magnificent side walk. You enjoy the view of the State Reception room decorated with a balcony over the portico of the main entrance, the Gothic style small dining room adorned with decorative paintings and Renaissance style State Drawing room, Rococo style Dancing Hall reaching two stories in height .

Day 5. Breakfast at hotel. Morning trip to town of Pushkin (Tzarskoye Selo): yusupov palace fotoCatherine's Palace and Park. Lunch at restaurant.

Trip to town of Pavlovsk, visit to Paul's Palace of 18th century or return to St.Petersburg for a visit to Yussupov Palace.

Day 6. Departure day.
