From the 6 till the 9 of September, 2018 the Great Moscow state circus under the support the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will hold the World festival of circus art “IDOL - 2018”. For the first time the World Festival of Circus Art “IDOL” was organized in 2013 and established itself as one of the most prestigious circus contest in the circus world. The traditional venue of the festival is the one of the biggest arena in Europe – the Great Moscow State Circus at Vernadsky prospekt. The visit card of the Festival is its flamboyant style that combines a rich coloration, history and traditions of the Russian culture in symbiosis with the modern directions of the show industry and entertainments.

The festival "IDOL" it is not just a show of the acts, it is a fascinating performance, framed by a new theme each year. Nevertheless, according to the already existing tradition, all of them are connected with Russia anyway – the spectators and the participants can touch the history of our great country, learn the diversity of its culture and feel the strength of the Russian spirit.

The «Circle of Light» Moscow international festival (21-25.09.2018)

The «Circle of Light» Moscow international festival is an annual event at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping. The buildings that symbolize Russia – among them are: the Bolshoi Theatre, the Moscow State University, VDNKh, and others – transform into canvases for large colorful video projections. The admission to all festival venues is free.

September 21 – The Circle of Light Festival will be opened by the Carnival of Light Show combining astonishing light and laser effects, awesome play of fountains and fire, and surely grand firework display. This year there will be a structure of 12 meter high cubes for video projections built on the island at Grebnoy Channel; while about 250 straight fountains and 35 rotating ones will be set up on the water; and more than 170 flame jets of various kinds will be installed on pontoons. September 22, 23 – Festival goers will be able to enjoy rerun of the Carnival of Light.

Dynamic and athletic: An “Active Citizen” team will run at the Moscow Marathon

Twenty-five fast and tough runners will toe the starting line.

Active Citizen website users will be able to run the Moscow Marathon for the first time. They will have an opportunity to be included on a team and run the Sputnik distance of 10 kilometres together. The Moscow Marathon with the Active Citizen is a new project launched for the race, which will take place on 23 September.

Potential team members need to register on the Active Citizen site and use the MOSCOWMARATHON promo code in their personal profile. Fifty people, determined by a merit point system, will be able to try out for the team. They will be expected to demonstrate their abilities at a training session where the 25 fastest and toughest participants will be chosen for the team. After that, training will include workshops in sports and running, medical consultations and classes on balancing healthy eating and drinking.

This will be the sixth Moscow Marathon, one of the largest open races in the country. Thousands of people will run along Moskva River embankments, the Garden Ring and the Boulevard Ring, the Krymsky Bridge, Tverskaya Street and Teatralny Proyezd.
