Shows and performances: 5th fireworks festival to be held in Moscow (17-18.08.2019)

On 17 and 18 August, the 5th International Fireworks Festival will take place in Brateevsky Park. Eight teams from Asia, Europe and North America will present fireworks shows. The last year's winner, a team from Slovakia, will open the festival. Then participants will present their two-part programmes ― a showpiece (1-1.5 min) and a free program (8 min). Brateevsky Park will hold four fireworks shows during festive days. Besides, the audience will enjoy quests, sports, family games, creative workshops and performances.

Festival on the Run: the Luzhniki semi-marathon will start on August 18

The participants will run 2.1 kilometers along the Moscow embankments.

The Luzhniki Half Marathon  will take place on August 2018. It’s the mass sports event with the second largest number of participants in Russia. The runners from Moscow and other regions will run 2.1 kilometers along the embankments in Central Moscow, passing the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Krymsky Bridge, the Cathedrals of St. Basil and Christ the Savior and the Kremlin.
The Luzhnetskaya, Frunzenskaya, Prechistenskaya, Kremlevskaya, Raushskaya and Kosmodamianovskaya Embankments will be closed for automotive traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on the day of the event.
The start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. People with mobility issues will take part in the marathon together with the other runners, using handbikes or racing wheelchairs. Their race is scheduled to commence 10 minutes ahead of the main start and follow the same route.
The medical and food stations will be provided along the distance. After finishing the marathon all the participants will be awarded commemorative medals. Entertainment activities and events have been arranged to take place at the start-finish point for the runners and any onlookers.

Moscow Mayor's Ice Hockey Cup to be held from 22 till 25 August

Moscow Mayor's Ice Hockey Cup will be held from 22 to 25 August at Megasport Sports Palace for the 12th time. It traditionally precedes the start of the Kontinental Hockey League Championship. Moscow Region Vityaz, Moscow Dynamo, Spartak and CSKA will compete for the prize. Teams will play one match at a time and will be positioned depending on the number of points scored. This year, 12 Olympic Champions will play in teams. Fans will witness the return of Oleg Znark to the coaching bridge as part of Moscow Spartak and three most significant Moscow derbies.

9 to 11 August, Sokolniki Park is to host a festival dedicated to one of the most important holidays of India — Independence Day, with festival venues opened from 10:00 am till 08:00 pm.
At the Day of India festival to be held in Sokolniki guests are welcome to learn about culture, history and national costumes of this South Asian country, buy mahogany and ivory souvenirs and taste the best varieties of highland tea. Almost all Park grounds will be occupied by grand celebration venues.  Visit concerts, discos, workshops, yoga sessions and health-improving massage classes at Festivalalnaya and Fontannaya squares, Big Circle alley, Sunny Meadow and in the Astronomic Garden. Performances of artists from India will create a special atmosphere. They will arrange a musical marathon.
