History Museum to work seven days a week during 2018 FIFA World Cup

All FAN ID holders will get a 30 percent discount for entrance tickets. Special tours in seven languages will be organised for them.

The State History Museum will extend its opening hours for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. For an entire month, from 14 June to 15 July, the museum complex will work seven days a week. The main building and the Museum of the War of 1812 will be open from 10 am to 9 pm and Saint Basil's Cathedral, from 10 am to 6 pm.

FAN ID holders will be able to buy tickets at a discount; there will also be free sightseeing tours at the museum, around Red Square and at Saint Basil's Cathedral.

“FAN ID holders will be able to visit the History Museum and its branches with a 30 percent discount between 14 June and 15 July. The discount will be available at the museum’s ticket offices,” said a spokesperson at the State History Museum’s press service.

Volunteers will act as guides during the free tours. They include more than 100 students from the Lomonosov Moscow State University’s history faculty and the Institute of Asian and African Countries who speak foreign languages. Volunteers will describe the museum’s masterpieces in Russian, English, French, German, Spanish, Estonian and Chinese. The sightseeing tour of the main building will include the “Gold: Metal of Gods” exhibition, featuring masterpieces from Ancient Rus, the Moscow Grand Duchy and the 18-19th century Russian empire.

FAN IDs have been issued since 7 December 2017. The document acts as a pass to the stadiums and entitles the holder to free travel on additional trains running between the host cities, as well as on public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trams and metro), and on regional trains and expresses to the city airports.

In Moscow, FAN IDs are available at the My Documents flagship centre at 2 Prechistenskaya Embankment as well as at the issue centre (34 Khamovnichesky Val Street). ID is needed, as well as the match ticket or booking form. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place between 14 June – 15 July in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, Kaliningrad, St Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.
