Unnatural Selection: Exhibition by animal photographer Tim Flach to open in Moscow

On 19 October, the Unnatural Selection exhibition of works by animal photographer Tim Flach will open at the Lumiere Brothers Centre for Photography. The show will feature images from varied projects carried out by Flach over the years.

It took Mr Flach about seven years to complete his Equus project, which looks at various members of the horse (Equidae) family. In 2010, he published a huge album with photos from his second project, Dog Gods. His 2012 album, More than Human, featured select works from previous projects and photos of wild animals. Mr Flach continues to work on the project Endangered, which documents the lives of endangered animals on the IUCN Red Data list.

Tim Flach studied photography and painting at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design and has collaborated with famous publications, including National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine and The Sunday Times. During the course of his work, the photographer often contacts scientists and zoologists and asks their advice.

Today, Mr Flach is a world-famous photographer. His works are quite popular and in high demand. This year, his portrait of Ya Yun the panda was auctioned at Christie’s for 40,000 pounds (over 3 million roubles).

The exhibition runs until 6 January.
