Skating Rink Night: Dancing on ice plus rock-n-roll, jazz and disco

All free on 28 February: Sixteen park skating rinks.

Skating Rink Night in Moscow will be held on the last day of winter. This year’s theme is Music on Ice. Sixteen parks will have concert venues at skating rinks. Sokolniki, Babushkinsky and Izmailovsky parks, as well as Hermitage Garden and Gorky Park will have musicians performing various genres from rock to funk. The event is supported by the Moscow Department of Culture.

People will be able to skate to music in all the parks participating in the event. Between 6 pm and 10 pm admission will be free. However, park goers will have to pay for additional services such as skate and gear rental. The party at Gorky Park will last until midnight.

The skating rink in Gorky Park will be the place to go for an electronic music party with DJs from MenzoDJs. Figure skaters in illuminated garb will entertain the public. Free electronic tickets can be obtained at the ticket office.

Sokolniki Park will be the venue of a performance by the Bridge Brothers Band cover band who will perform popular jazz and soul pieces. A music contest will be held at the rink. Participants will have to guess which classical works are being played. A guitar night will be held at 50-Letiya Oktyabrya Park with the Rock Syndrome band, as well as themed quizzes, games and competitions.

Vorontsovsky Park will have a rock-n-roll party on ice. Park goers will enjoy cover versions of some of their favourite songs by such artists as Chuck Berry, The Beatles and Bravo. They will also take part in a flash mob to music by Queen on the rink illuminated by lanterns. Figure skating master classes will also be available.

Those who like rock-n-roll should also visit the Hermitage Garden. The evening headliners will be singer Alexander Pushnoi, television host Margarita Mitrofanova and presenter Vasily Strelnikov. The party will also feature ice dancing classes.

In Tagansky Park, Skating Rink Night will be accompanied by pop music from all over the world. There’ll be competitions, prizes and a performance given by the band Mojito. Bauman Garden will be the venue of a disco night with DJs using real vinyl records. Those who fancy African American music should head to the funk party in Perovsky Park. The art group Royal Attack will perform a spectacular drum show there. The duo Amigos de Corazon will sing Latin American hits in the Severny Rechnoy Vokzal Park.
