Shostakovich. 12th Symphony

Shostakovich finished his Twelfth Symphony in 1961, but the composer had the idea to write it back in the 1930s. In an interview with the radio magazine Musical Life of the Russian Federation, he said that he plans to dedicate the essay to Lenin. The use of Mayakovsky's poems was assumed as a textual basis. But then instead of the designated program symphony, another appeared, also dedicated to Lenin - Symphony No. 6. The premiere of the Twelfth Symphony took place on October 15, 1961 in Moscow (conductor - Konstantin Ivanov).
Before the concert in the Small Hall at 19.00 there will be a lecture «Conversation about Shostakovich».Olga Digonskaya
