KOS-MOS-HACK: First hackathon at Cosmonautics Museum

The first hackathon technological competition will take place at the Cosmonautics Museum involving computer programmers together with software specialists. The closing date for registration is 10 November. The event is scheduled for 11-13 November.

The participants will have to accomplish various tasks using augmented reality and virtual reality (AR and VR) technology.

They will have to suggest various options for increasing the number of museum visitors using a mobile app, come up with simple descriptions of museum exhibits for children, and also create some unique content called Space for Dreamers making it possible to predict the future of space industry.

Professionals, including computer graphics experts, programmers, games developers and designers, will find this competition just up their street.

People both from Moscow and outside will be allowed to take part in the event. Teams with up to five members each and individual participants are invited to join in. The winners will receive cash prizes and will be able to sign contracts for upgrading the Museum’s mobile app.

They will be able to get down to work using a convenient facility with soft padded swivel chairs and there’s expected to be other office furniture too. Three meals a day will be provided as well as expert advice while surfing the internet to one’s heart’s content.

Team members should bring laptops with them and any software they might require plus smartphones should not be forgotten. Night owls best think about bringing mattresses, pillows and sleeping bags with them just in case they want to take a little nap in the middle of the night in the Museum.

In all, 500,000 roubles have been set aside as prize money. Registration is free, and all participants should be 18 plus.
