A snowman orchestra and dancing Fathers Frost: Celebrating New Year in Zaryadye

The park will transform into a magnificent dance floor on New Year’s night. Orchestras and jazz bands will play over a hundred hits from films and musicals on the open-air stage.

For the first time, Zaryadye will prepare a festive programme for New Year’s night. Dancing and acrobatic shows will be held on the stage of the large amphitheatre from 10 pm on 31 December to 3 am on 1 January, in addition to flashmobs and concerts. The park will be decorated with giant pinecones and a New Year tree.

The New Year party will kick off at 10 pm. Famous tunes from Soviet films, such as Kidnapping, Caucasian Style, Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession and Sorcerers, will be performed by the Perfomen Quartet. At 10.55 pm, visitors will see the Miracle Bus New Year interactive theatrical performance featuring illusionists and magicians. A bus adorned with hundreds of LED lights will be the main decoration.

At 11.20 pm, musicians from the Kupina folk band will perform Russian traditional-style songs on the gusli and accordion.

The park will mark New Year with a large flashmob of Fathers Frost: over 30 professional dancers in red clothes and hats will dance with the park visitors.

At 12.20 am, Georgy Garanyan’s Big Band will play a musical greeting. Visitors will hear jazz arrangements of popular music by Soviet composers as well as the world’s best jazz: Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.

At 1 am, a spectacular show with acrobats, dancers and circus jugglers will begin. Then, at 1.55 am, the Snowman Orchestra brass band, five musicians dressed up as snowmen, will play iconic New Year tunes and international hits: Jingle Bells, Happy New Year and Last Christmas. At 2.35 am, singers of the Crystal cover band will perform songs from Carnival Night, Gentlemen of Fortune and other Soviet films.

The pavilions will extend their hours for the occasion: from 10 pm to 3 am, visitors will be able to go to the ice cave, soar over Moscow and Russia at the media complex, and take a look at the history of Moscow using the Time Machine. The detailed New Year programme is available here.

Muscovites will be able to enjoy their holidays at the Journey to Christmas festival. This year it takes place on 14 December – 13 January. Festival-goers can watch street performances, take free workshops on how to make New Year gifts, and find refreshments at the retail chalets. There will be 78 venues in total, working from 11 am to 10 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 10 pm on weekends. The venue on Red Square opened on 30 November and welcomes visitors every day from 10 am to 11 pm.
